Prominent Navy Leaders Queue for MOSA Summit 2025

A modular open systems approach (MOSA) narrative is at the forefront of the upcoming MOSA Industry and Government Summit & Expo Aug. 27-29 in National Harbor, Maryland. Leading Navy authorities have set their sights to engage with the DOD tri-services and industry on system lifecycle urgencies using a MOSA strategy.

“We look forward to the MOSA Industry and Government Summit & Expo with great anticipation. And particularly, to hear from the highly respected speakers as they convey MOSA as a combat capability and the critical importance of achievement through collaboration,” said Capt. Jarrod Hair, Air Combat Electronics Program Office program manager.

MOSA, an integrated technical and business strategy, uses modular and open principles to manage and sustain a system and fleets-of-systems. Applying MOSA at the enterprise level fosters collaboration across programs to drive toward broader objectives and more easily removable, upgradeable, interoperable components.

On Aug. 28, Peter Reddy, the Navy’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research, Development, Test and Engineering (DASN (RDT&E)), will deliver a keynote address focused on the future of naval technology. Reddy’s office is responsible for executive oversight of the Navy’s research and development budget, science and engineering, and advanced research—areas vital to maintaining the Navy’s competitive edge.

The MOSA Summit provides a unique forum for engagement, drawing together government, civilian and industry leaders. Reddy’s keynote is a central highlight, but attendees can also benefit from a talk Aug. 27 by Jacob Glassman, the ASN (RD&A) senior technical adviser. Glassman’s presentation in the Expo Theater will feature a surprise guest speaker, adding another layer of insight.

Culminating on the third and final day of the MOSA Summit, Nickolas Guertin, former Assistant Secretary of the Navy Research, Development and Acquisition (ASN(RDA)), will bring his views and bold vision for open standards in an interactive setting. His talk, “Empowering the Future of Defense Systems,” is slated for midmorning Aug. 29.

Attending the MOSA Summit 2025
The MOSA Summit 2025 will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. It will span an Expo Hall of numerous live demonstrations in more than 90 exhibit booths, staffed by hundreds of experts. In addition, multiple tri-service and industry VIP speakers, more than 35 panel discussions in six tracks, plus a riveting Tech Innovation Challenge—revealing the best-of-the-best tech startups—will draw C-level strategic decision makers and influencers.

The MOSA Summit goes beyond an exchange of information or meet and greet. Attendees are encouraged to foster valuable connections that support increasing opportunities and competition to deliver the latest technological innovations to the warfighter faster than ever.

The MOSA Summit provides a complimentary, full pass to all active-duty military and DOD civilians. Additional registration options are an Expo-only pass or a full conference pass for a fee. More info: https://events.techconnect.org/MOSA_2025/.
